We are really pleased with the turn out for this years ride. The weather was great, the riders were a diverse group of wonderful people and the ride was as successful as we had anticipated.
Many thanks to all those that participated and to all the sponsors that made this event possible.
We welcome comments from all of you that participated in this ride.
We look forward to seeing you next year for the 2011 Hayfork Century Ride!

I love this ride and will do it again. My group swept up places 2-7 this year I believe. The people/support are great. I have to say the food was super last year, but pretty lacking this year. I like a big breakfast before a big effort like this route serves up. Some cyclists are all granola and tofu. I am not. I’m an ex-logger who appreciates real food, and I was pretty worried when I realized that a few muffins and apples and coffee were supposed to be my fuel. Good thing I had some cliff bars (yuck). Also the entry fee was a bit steep. We are all used to the 45-55 dollar range for centuries. Check all the other big rides like the Wildflower, the TUC, Redding Jamboree, etc. and you will find this is true. Maybe real food would have compensated, but that was lacking (tip – your on-route food was pretty good. I would put more gels and gu at the first stops for flash energy on the big climbs and supplement the brownies and cookies, which were great, with pbj sandwiches and/or bagel for something more solid in the middle and end). I know you have a great dinner, but I, and many others, don’t stick around long after rides. After going all out, I just want to scram back to my family and lie down for a couple days. Just sayin. I’m looking forward to next year’s ride, the 2010 posted times, and some photos. You have a great event going. It takes a while to find a balance with support, finances, and rider’s needs. I hope I have helped a little.
Greetings, All! from a local participant of the inaugural and now the second annual Hayfork Century, and I had the ride of my life on the Wild-Peanut Loop! Out-of-town participants may think we locals take our breathtakingly beautiful surroundings for granted, but I’m here to say I don’t! I was really looking forward to the Wildwood Road part of the ride, but boy did I have to work to get there! Fortunately it was the “easiest” section of the ride, and then the breezy coast home on Hwy. 3 back to Hayfork. What a blast!
Everybody hosting the rest stops was in great spirits and so encouraging of us riders! And we couldn’t have dialed up better weather if we’d been capable.
I think there’s room for improvement in the food and its timing and availability, and you’ll hear more about my ideas on that subject in another forum.
All things, considered, hats off to the Hayfork Rotary and Mike Cherney for designing event that promises to be bigger success every year it happens.
And thanks to all the participants for coming to Hayfork. We love having you here — you really make our day and year!
THANK YOU!!!!
